President Shameica presented key information during last week’s club meeting that will be tested this evening. Club members will be split into teams, vying for the title of Rotary Knowledge Champion. 

May the best team win!!

A few reminders; the Community Clean-up will take place this upcoming Saturday, July 25th from 6 am to  8 am at Sandy Ground Beach, the Carnival themed Fellowship Night will take place on Thursday, July 30th, and the Sunset Cruise will set sail on August 1st.

  • Secretary Chevonne presents a report from last Board meeting.

  • Updates on upcoming events.
    • Tomorrow friday July 24th the KAHOOT online challenge will be launched. This online quizz is about RI and District knowledge and it will be shared with all clubs in our district so their members can compete. Reports will show result per member. The challenge will end August 19th at midnight. Flyer with infor will be posted on the Clubs FB and Instagram account
    • Saturday July 25th 6am. Clean up day. Meeting at Sandy Ground, at the ball field. IPP have secured 3 gallons punch, 3 cases of water and some sandwiches. You are encouraged to walk with any other snacks. ROTARIAN AT WORK Tshirts are on their way. Price is 15usd
    • Fellowship night on the 30th, our sergeant at arms indicated we push it towards a carnival mascerade. We are talking to Roys to do some finger foods and also you are encourage to bring family and friends. IPP and Sergeant will deal with decoration.
    • August 1st , Sunday: Sunset cruise. we have secured the sale of the full 25 tickets. the board discussed having another boat however we have decided to run the event a second time. Club members agreed on that point. Some food and drinks items would be donated, they would be included in the cost of a ticket. 
      For the second cruise, we propose either a cash bar where you pay for your drink or drinks include but the ticket cost would be increased. Anyone willing to donate, please see us after the meeting.
    • August 30th: we have a membership event that we would use as a fundraiser as well. We discuss new membership form via google doc. A club health check form as well.
    • We are also going to reach to Honoray Members to speak during the August month
    • September: EDUCATION & LITERACY
      • Spelling bee has been now moved to November 8th, 15th and 22nd
      • Butterfly writing story contest. We agreed to celebrate a little bit more the participants from Anguilla. So it can be looked at a smaller project. Pigg back off of the bigger project.
      • SXM Sunset Rotary Club would like RCA to partner in a free library in public location project.
    • October: we need to decide on what activities we would embark on. If you have any projects or idea, please share with us.
    • November:
      • Foundation month. We need to decide on a fundraiser event.
      • Spelling bee is now November 8th, 15th and 22nd.
    • Diabetes month: we will have to reach out to discuss activities/projects
  • Approved some new ventures:
      • Business Expo
      • Agricultural project. we will reach out to Agricultural department to get a plot of land for garden development in conjoncture with the Interact club. Produce would be donated to senior citizen’s homes.
  • Rotary Info team was very busy!
      • preparing the RCA full year report card for 2019-2020
      • clean up day advertising
      • website updates with last news
      • creating and posting posters and informatio for various events.

  • YOUTH SERVICES: we need to monitor what is happening with advisors relocation for the upcoming school year.  Youth project Rtns Karl, Chevonne, Jasmine and IPP will meet to discuss activities for the 2020-2021 year.

  • FUNDRAISER: Prsdt Shameica indicated she would draft up a list of possible fundraising activities/events and possible projects. We would discuss at the next meeting.

  • DISASTER CHAIR indicated she reached out to Disaster Management and she would provide materials as soon as they are available. Disaster plan needs to be updated.

  • FINANCE: We have Rotary invoice for RI and District dues. To be paid July 31st.
    Accounts handed over to our new treasurer but things still need to be sorted.

  • NEW BUSINESS: The board received a decision from the panel in regards of the Rotarian Shernika Connor matter. We would discuss at a later date.
